The picking process from start to finish

Picking Workflow

Step-by-step guide to the picking process.

Picking Process

Step 1: Get Picklist

  1. Go to Logistics > Picklists
  2. Find assigned picklist
  3. Or claim available picklist
  4. Click Start Picking

Step 2: Navigate to Location

For each item:

  1. View location (e.g., A-01-03)
  2. Go to that location
  3. Locate the product

Step 3: Pick Item

  1. Verify product
  2. Pick requested quantity
  3. Confirm pick:
    • Scan barcode, or
    • Click confirm

Step 4: Handle Issues

If problems occur:

Step 5: Complete Picklist

After all items:

  1. Review completion status
  2. Confirm any exceptions
  3. Click Complete Picking
  4. Deliver to packing area

Paper Picking

Traditional method:

  1. Print picklist
  2. Pick with paper
  3. Enter confirmations after

Mobile Picking

Using mobile device:

  1. Open mobile app
  2. Scan and confirm in real-time
  3. Updates immediately

Voice Picking

Hands-free operation:

  1. Audio instructions
  2. Voice confirmation
  3. Maximum efficiency

Handling Shortages

Partial Pick

When not enough stock:

  1. Pick available quantity
  2. Mark shortage on picklist
  3. System updates order
  4. Remaining back-ordered

Substitutions

If allowed:

  1. Identify substitute product
  2. Request approval
  3. Pick substitute
  4. Document substitution
