How to install the Alpha Revit Add-In
Installation
System Requirements
- Autodesk Revit 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026
- Windows 10 or later
- Internet connection for API communication and auto-updates
Installing via MSI Installer
- Download the latest MSI installer from your Alpha administrator or the Alpha platform
- Close all running instances of Revit
- Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions
- Launch Revit — you should see the Alpha tab in the ribbon
The installer registers the add-in manifest (.addin file) in the Revit Addins directory for your installed Revit version(s).
Add-In Manifest Location
The .addin manifest is placed in:
%ProgramData%\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\<RevitVersion>\For example, for Revit 2026:
C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2026\Auto-Updates
The add-in checks for updates automatically when Revit starts. If an update is available, it is downloaded in the background and installed when Revit closes. No manual intervention is required.
Verifying the Installation
After launching Revit with the add-in installed:
- Open or create a Revit project
- Look for the Alpha tab in the ribbon
- Click Settings in the Preferences panel to confirm the add-in version
The current version is displayed on the Settings button label.
Troubleshooting
