Requesting Leave

Submit leave requests by selecting dates, leave type, and day half.

Employees can submit leave requests through the self-service interface.

Submitting a Request

  1. Navigate to HR > Leave and click Request Leave.
  2. Fill in the request details:
    • Leave type -- Select the type of leave (Vacation, Sick, Personal, Parental, Unpaid, or Other)
    • Start date -- First day of the leave period
    • End date -- Last day of the leave period (can be the same as start date for single-day requests)
    • Day half -- Choose Full, Morning, or Afternoon for each boundary day
    • Reason -- Optional description or notes for your manager
  3. Click Submit.

The request is created with PENDING status and sent to your manager for review.

Selecting Dates

Single Day

Set the start and end date to the same day. Use the day half selector to request a full day or just a morning/afternoon.

Multiple Days

Select a date range. The first and last days can each have their own day half setting. For example, you can request leave starting on Monday afternoon and ending on Friday morning.

Checking Availability

Before submitting, the calendar view shows:

  • Your existing leave -- Approved and pending requests already on the calendar
  • Team availability -- Other team members who are off during the same period
  • Remaining balance -- Your current vacation balance (for vacation-type requests)

After Submission

Once submitted, the request appears in your manager's approval queue. You can track the status of your request on the leave overview page.

Cancelling a Request

You can cancel a request while it is still PENDING or even after it has been APPROVED (provided the leave period has not yet started or your organization allows it):

  1. Open the leave request.
  2. Click Cancel Request.

Cancelling an approved vacation request restores the deducted days to your balance.
