Notification Preferences
Control per notification type how you want to be notified — in-app, push, or email
Notification Preferences
Alpha can notify you in three places: in the web app (the bell icon), on your phone (push notifications from the mobile app), and by email. You decide per notification type which channels are used.
Open your preferences via Settings → Preferences → Notifications in the web app, or Profile → Notification settings in the mobile app. Changes apply to your account, so they are shared between web and mobile.
How the settings stack
A notification is delivered on a channel only when all levels allow it:
- Global channel switches — turn a whole channel on or off (in-app notifications, push notifications, email frequency).
- Categories — enable or disable whole groups: ERP, CRM, HR, and System. Disabling a category mutes all of its notification types on every channel.
- Per-type channel matrix — for each notification type (for example Invoice Paid or Lead Assigned), tick or untick the in-app, push, and email columns individually.
So you can, for example, keep Invoice Overdue on every channel, receive New Lead only as a push notification, and see PO Status Changed only in the app.
Email: one frequency, per-type inclusion
Email has a single delivery frequency for your account:
- Off — no notification emails
- Directly — an email per notification, as it happens
- Daily / Weekly — a digest summarizing unread notifications
The per-type email checkbox controls whether that type is included — it applies both to direct emails and to digests. While the frequency is Off, the email column has no effect.
You only see what your role can receive
The list of notification types is filtered by your permissions: types you can never receive (for example invoice notifications when you have no invoice access) are hidden from the settings and are never delivered to you. If your role changes, the list updates automatically.
Security notifications are always on
A small number of security-critical types — Security Alert and Login Approval Required (used for push-based login approval) — are locked and cannot be muted. They are marked with a lock icon.
Good to know
- Newly introduced notification types are on by default for all channels; mute the ones you don't want.
- Muting a type's in-app channel hides future notifications of that type from the bell; previously received notifications stay in your history.
- Disabling in-app or push for a type does not affect your email digest, and vice versa — channels are independent.
